Exploring the massive, inclusive play spaces and flying foxes at Kwinana Adventure Park nearby
Residents of Orelia benefit from living minutes away from the nationally recognised Kwinana Adventure Park. This sprawling, purpose-built space features accessible splash pads, tree mazes, and inclusive design for the entire community.

A thoughtfully designed community space

Residents of Orelia benefit from living just minutes away from a nationally recognised recreation area. Kwinana Adventure Park is a sprawling, purpose-built outdoor space that invites families to engage deeply with nature. The community asset cost more than five million dollars to develop, and its layout carefully protects the mature tuart trees surrounding the site.

Rather than flattening the local landscape, planners built directly around the environment to create an organic, immersive playground. According to the design team at the Josh Byrne and Associates firm, the project prioritised existing trees to provide natural shade and crucial wildlife habitat. Specialists even analysed the soil to ensure the massive eucalyptus trees remained entirely healthy throughout the construction process.

The resulting space blends the natural world and modern recreation seamlessly. A massive double flying fox stretches across the soft sand, encouraging thrill-seekers to race side by side through the open air. Children can also explore the elevated tree maze, which is packed with climbing nets, balancing logs, and engaging sensory play elements.

Inclusive play for all abilities

Every single section of the park incorporates thoughtful, inclusive design principles. According to a community accessibility guide published by Playgroup WA, the park was purpose-built to feature continuous wheelchair access across all major zones. The facility also includes supportive seating on the swings and accessible water play tables for children of all abilities.

Double-gated fences secure the entire perimeter, giving parents complete peace of mind while their children explore the grounds. The splash pad stands out as a highly popular feature during warmer seasons. It operates on push-button systems that release cooling jets of water directly from the paved ground.

Two large pelican structures tip water over excited visitors, adding a refreshing element of surprise to the play experience. Families from Orelia and other nearby suburbs treat the park as a dedicated weekend destination. The site features modern amenities to support long visits, such as wide picnic tables, electric barbecues, and fully accessible change rooms with adult hoists.

According to a detailed review by Jennie McNichol of the Buggybuddys publication, the ultimate playground wishlist comes to life at this state-of-the-art facility. The open layout ensures that parents can relax on the soft grass while maintaining a clear line of sight to the active play zones.

Whether children want to scale the wooden tree maze or race down the flying fox, the park delivers endless hours of imaginative play. It requires no admission fee, ensuring that outdoor recreation remains accessible to everyone in the district. The park continues to serve as a highly cherished outdoor escape for the local community.
